The blueberries do double duty: an ordinary woodland snack that also becomes Mr. Fox's tranquilizer of choice, doctored just enough to put a guard dog down for the length of a heist. It's the film's tidiest sight gag — the same fruit the animals eat for pleasure, repurposed as a tool the moment the plot needs one.

Ingredients

1 pint fresh wild or cultivated blueberries
Honey, for drizzling (optional)

Method

Rinse the blueberries and pick out any stems or soft ones.
Serve in a small bowl, plain — or with a light drizzle of honey if you want them as a proper snack rather than a plot device.
Do not butterfly them with a scalpel. That part's just Mr. Fox.
