Food Notes
The café was real enough to become real. The Whistle Stop Café built for the film (in Juliette, Georgia) still operates as a restaurant, serving — of course — fried green tomatoes to fans three decades on.
"The secret's in the sauce" is the film's great dark wink, delivered by Sipsey and company with perfect innocence while Investigator Curtis enjoys his plate. We'll say no more; the barbecue recipe above is pork.
