Before Lady ever meets Tramp, her whole world is this: a doting couple who share their own breakfast with her, right down to the dunk. It's a small, wordless moment, but it sets up exactly how good Lady has it at home — which is what makes the rest of the film, and the eventual comparison to a stray who's never had a table at all, land the way it does.

Method
- Whisk the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg together.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the milk and melted butter, then stir into the dry ingredients to a soft, slightly sticky dough. Rest 10 minutes.
- Roll to ½ inch thick and cut into rings.
- Fry in 350°F oil until golden on both sides, a couple of minutes a side.
- Drain, and serve with a cup of strong coffee for dunking — a saucer's worth is enough for the family dog.
