Fresh Peaches
Serve when
A full bowl of peaches sits in the Park kitchen — expensive, out of season, and about to be used as a weapon instead of a snack
In the movie
Theatrical
- 00:50:49 Ki-woo hands out peaches during his tutoring visit — 'Wow, peaches! You have some too, Mr. Kevin' — the same bowl of fruit the family is already plotting to use against the housekeeper
- 00:40:07 Earlier, the Kims plan the scheme around the fruit itself: 'I want to eat peaches' / 'No peaches at our house' — establishing peaches as scarce and prized before they become a weapon
Peaches are a genuinely expensive, prized fruit in Korea, and the Parks keep a bowl of them on hand as an ordinary luxury — until the Kims turn that luxury into a weapon, using the housekeeper's peach allergy to fake a tuberculosis scare and get her fired. It's the film's bluntest example of how the same object reads completely differently depending on which family is holding it.
Ingredients
Method
- Rinse the peaches in cold water and pat dry — the fuzz is the point in this film, so don't peel them.
- Slice into wedges just before serving; peaches brown fast once cut.
- Serve chilled, in a bowl, the way they sit on the Park family's counter — no preparation beyond washing them.
