Big Kahuna is Tarantino's fictional Hawaiian chain (it recurs across his films), and Jules's burger bite is one of the most menacing acts of eating ever filmed — "Mmm, this IS a tasty burger." The recipe reconstructs what a Hawaiian burger joint would serve: teriyaki, grilled pineapple, and no fear.

Method
- Simmer the glaze ingredients until syrupy, about 5 minutes.
- Grill the pineapple rings until caramel-striped; brush with glaze.
- Season the patties hard and grill 3 minutes a side, until no pink remains at the center (160°F), glazing the tops; cheese on for the last minute.
- Build on toasted buns: mayo, lettuce, patty, glazed pineapple, red onion.
- Serve with a cold lemon-lime soda for washing down. Offer bites to guests before asking them any questions.
