Jules names the moment out loud, almost embarrassed by how small it sounds: eating a muffin, drinking coffee, replaying a miracle. Seconds later the same diner becomes the robbery that opened the film. The muffin is the calm right before the loop closes.

- Whisk the cornmeal, flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt together.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs with the buttermilk and melted butter.
- Fold the wet into the dry just until combined — don't overwork it, or the muffins turn tough.
- Divide into a greased muffin tin and bake at 400°F for 16–18 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Serve warm or at room temperature, alongside a plain black coffee, and pick at it slowly. This isn't a scene anyone rushes through.
