Each dish shows when to start cooking and when to serve — plate it as its scene arrives in When Harry Met Sally.... Times are approximate; your version of the film and any ads will shift them, so watch for the on-screen moment, not the clock.

Every diner table this friendship happens across, over twelve years of refills — the constant that outlasts every argument about whether men and women can just be friends.
PrepBrew a full pot before the movie starts; this one runs the whole runtime, not a single scene.

The diner order that defines her — pie heated, ice cream on the side, never on top, whipped cream only if it's real. Serve it exactly to spec.
PrepBake it, then let it rest a full 2 hours before slicing — get it made and cooled well ahead, then just warm the slice and plate the scoop beside it, never on top.

Katz's Delicatessen, towering sandwiches on the table — Sally's demonstration turns the scene into the most famous restaurant moment ever filmed, capped by the next table's order.
PrepHave the pastrami sliced and ready; it only needs 5-10 minutes steaming to go from cold deli meat to hot and pileable.
Food Notes
The table is still there. Katz's Delicatessen marks the exact table of THE scene with a hanging sign — "Where Harry met Sally... hope you have what she had!" — and the line cooks have heard the reenactment ten thousand times.
"On the side" is a philosophy. Sally orders everything with the sauce, the dressing, the ice cream on the side. Harry diagnoses it in the car; the movie agrees it's not fussiness — it's knowing exactly what you want.
Food scenes as chapters: the film's twelve-year arc is told almost entirely in restaurants — the diner on the drive, Katz's, the wagon-wheel-table dinner party. Every stage of the relationship gets a table.
