Ingredients

2 cups heavy cream
1 cup whole milk
¾ cup sugar
1 vanilla bean, split and scraped (or 2 teaspoons vanilla extract)
pinch of salt

Method

Warm the milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt together until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is steaming, about 170°F; do not boil.
Stir in the cream, then chill the base fully, at least 4 hours.
Churn in an ice cream maker per its instructions until soft-set.
Freeze until scoopable, then serve in paper cups.
