Food Notes
The tennis-court ballet is real history. The McDonald brothers really did chalk a full-scale kitchen layout on a tennis court and drill their crew's movements until the 'Speedee Service System' ran like an assembly line — the scene recreates the birth of fast food almost documentary-style.
"It's a symphony of efficiency." Thirty seconds from order to bag, a limited menu of burgers, fries, and shakes done perfectly — the film's food argument is that the original product was genuinely excellent, which is what made everything after it tragic.
The powdered milkshake is the villain's handshake. Inst-A-Mix — no refrigeration, no ice cream — is where Ray and the brothers finally break. Persistence built the empire; the powder shows what it cost.
