Haku hands over the rice balls and Chihiro finally breaks down, crying and eating at the same time. Have them shaped and ready the moment she takes the first bite.

At Zeniba's cottage, Sen and No-Face are finally treated like guests instead of trouble — a quiet pot of tea set down without judgment. Pour it as the cottage scene settles in.

Food Notes
The parents' feast is deliberately mysterious. The glistening stall food that turns Chihiro's parents into pigs was animated to look irresistible and unplaceable; Studio Ghibli later confirmed the soft, gelatinous dish the father devours was modeled on ba-wan, a Taiwanese dumpling. It is not a recipe here on purpose — the film's first lesson is don't eat that.
Food is the moral system: the greedy are transformed by it, No-Face tries to buy love with it, and the kind share it — onigiri, a steamed bun, Zeniba's tea. What and how characters eat is exactly who they are.
Konpeitō for the soot sprites: the star-shaped sugar candy Kamaji rewards them with is real Japanese confectionery — days of sugar-layering to make, adorable to buy. We recreate it as konpeitō.
The train scene has no food at all — and after two hours of feasts and hunger, that quiet is the point.
